About
Opened in 1910, the museum holds an enormous collection of specimens and artefacts. Visitors are greeted by an African bush elephant in the domed rotunda, and the fossil hall traces the history of life on Earth. The gem collection includes the deep blue Hope Diamond, and the ocean hall features a model of a North Atlantic right whale.
Best time to go: Arrive early to see the Hope Diamond and the fossil hall before the school groups arrive.
