About
Framed by the Royal Castle and colourful townhouses, Castle Square is the main entrance to the old town. At its centre rises Sigismund's Column, raised in 1644 in honour of King Sigismund III Vasa, who moved the capital from Kraków to Warsaw; it is one of the oldest secular monuments in the city.
Best time to go: Arrive around sunset for the warm light on the castle and the old town facades.
