About

Begun in the twelfth century by the Lamberti family and raised to its present height in the fifteenth, the tower is the tallest in Verona. Its upper section, added after a lightning strike, is built in lighter stone than the brick below. A lift and a long staircase lead to the bell chamber, where the view takes in the Arena, the river and the hills beyond.

Best time to go: Go up in the late afternoon for the warm light over the rooftops and the bend of the Adige.
