About
Once the forum of Roman Verona, Piazza delle Erbe has been the city's meeting place ever since. The fountain of Madonna Verona has stood here since the fourteenth century, surrounded by merchants' houses, the baroque Palazzo Maffei and painted facades. Market stalls still trade under white umbrellas, and the Torre dei Lamberti rises above the square.
Best time to go: Come in the morning for the market stalls, then climb the Torre dei Lamberti right beside it.
