About
Completed in the 1770s for a wealthy widow, this long yellow rococo mansion faces the main street of Munkegata. It was bought by the state and has served as the royal family's residence in Trondheim since the early nineteenth century. Its interiors keep period furniture and decoration, and the garden behind is a quiet retreat.
Best time to go: Join a guided tour in summer, when the royal residence opens its rooms to visitors.
