About
Construction began around 1070 over the burial place of King Olaf II, and for centuries it was the goal of pilgrims from across northern Europe. The west front is lined with rows of carved statues, and the Gothic interior glows with modern stained glass. Norwegian monarchs have traditionally been consecrated here, and restoration work has continued for well over a century.
Best time to go: Climb the tower for the view over the city, then spend time studying the carved west front.
