About
Bahauddin Zakariya, a leading figure of the Suhrawardiyya Sufi order, paid for his own shrine, which was built in 1262, a few years before his death in 1268. It became the prototype for the classical architecture of Multan and remains one of the most important Muslim shrines in the wider Punjab region. Smaller shrines across the surrounding area are seen as part of its spiritual territory, with Multan at its centre.
Best time to go: Visit together with the Rukn-e-Alam tomb on the same fort mound; dress modestly and come outside prayer times.
