About

The church is one of the most venerated in Florence, and its entrance cloister is frescoed by Andrea del Sarto and his circle. The square in front is one of the most harmonious in the city, with Brunelleschi's Ospedale degli Innocenti, Europe's first purpose-built foundling hospital, along one side.

Best time to go: Morning, when the church is open and the square is quiet.
