About

Behind a later facade, Santa Trinita keeps a sober Gothic interior. Its treasure is the Sassetti Chapel, where Domenico Ghirlandaio painted the life of St Francis against backdrops of Piazza della Signoria and the Florence of his day, complete with portraits of the Medici circle.

Best time to go: Any time the church is open; bring coins to light the chapel.
