About

The square sits on the site of Roman Florentia's forum. In the late nineteenth century the old market and Jewish ghetto here were demolished to create a grand square with a triumphal arch. Today it has a vintage carousel, historic cafés and a rooftop bar on the department store with views of the Duomo.

Best time to go: Evening, when the carousel lights up and street musicians play.
