About

Bartolomeo Ammannati designed the bridge in the 1560s with unusually flat, elegant arches. It was blown up in 1944 and rebuilt after the war using stones recovered from the Arno. Stand in the middle at sunset for the view of Ponte Vecchio.

Best time to go: Sunset, for the classic view of Ponte Vecchio glowing upstream.
