About

Santo Spirito is Brunelleschi's design carried out after his death, with a forest of grey stone columns and side chapels. The sacristy holds a wooden crucifix attributed to the young Michelangelo. Outside, the square has a small morning market and fills with locals and students at night.

Best time to go: Late afternoon for the church, then stay in the square for an evening drink.
