About

Sultan Abu Inan Faris built this madrasa in the 1350s, and unusually it also served as a Friday mosque with its own minaret. The courtyard is a showcase of Marinid craft, with bands of zellige, calligraphic stucco and cedar screens rising to the eaves. It is one of the few religious buildings in Fez that visitors of any faith may enter.

Best time to go: Visit early, and look across the street for the remains of the medieval water clock.
