About
Completed in the 1320s, the Attarine takes its name from the perfume and spice sellers of the neighbouring souk. Though compact, its courtyard is considered one of the most harmonious in Morocco, with slender marble columns, bronze fittings and layered carving in wood and plaster. Upstairs, the student rooms look out over the Qarawiyyin's roofs.
Best time to go: Stop in on the way to the Qarawiyyin, when the spice market outside is at its busiest.
