About
Robert Adam designed the bridge in the 1770s for the Pulteney family, who wanted to develop land on the far bank. It is one of very few bridges in the world with shops built across its full length, and the view of its arches above the horseshoe weir is one of Bath's most familiar scenes.
Best time to go: The best view is from Grand Parade or the riverside path beside the weir.
