About
The walls follow lines first laid out by the Romans and were largely rebuilt in stone in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. A walkway runs along most of their length, linking the fortified gateways known as bars, and gives constantly changing views over gardens, rooftops and the Minster.
Best time to go: The stretch from Bootham Bar to Monk Bar gives the finest views of the Minster.
