About
The mound was raised after the Norman Conquest, and the quatrefoil tower on top was built in stone in the thirteenth century. It was the scene of a massacre of York's Jewish community in 1190, and a modern walkway and roof deck now let visitors look out over the city.
Best time to go: Go up to the roof deck for a 360-degree view across the city.
