About
The Stephansdom has stood at the heart of the city since the twelfth century, though most of today's building is Gothic. Its south tower rises to about 136 metres, the patterned roof is laid with some quarter of a million glazed tiles, and the catacombs below hold the urns containing Habsburg organs.
Best time to go: Climb the south tower's spiral stairs for the view, then return for the calm of evening Mass.
