About
The square opened in 1965 with the modernist City Hall, whose two curved towers were designed by the Finnish architect Viljo Revell. A reflecting pool becomes a popular ice rink in winter, and the colourful TORONTO sign is a favourite spot for photographs. The neighbouring Old City Hall is a fine Romanesque Revival building.
Best time to go: Come in winter to watch skaters on the pond, and in summer for concerts and markets.
