About
Dar Essid is a palace in the medina of Sousse that once belonged to a family of local aristocrats. It has been turned into a museum that recreates daily life in the city during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Its rooms show how a wealthy household lived behind the plain walls of the old town, a quiet domestic counterpoint to the fortress and the great mosque a few lanes away.
Best time to go: Pair it with the Great Mosque and the ribat on a morning walk through the medina.
