About
The Dominicans began this church in the thirteenth century, and its bare brick nave has an austere grandeur. Saint Catherine of Siena worshipped here, and a chapel dedicated to her holds frescoes by Sodoma and a relic of the saint. An early portrait of Catherine painted by a contemporary hangs nearby, and the view from outside takes in the cathedral across the valley.
Best time to go: Visit in the morning and walk to the terrace outside for a classic view of the cathedral.
