About
The spirit tablets of the Joseon kings and queens are enshrined here in long, low wooden halls of striking simplicity, built in the late fourteenth century and later extended. Ancestral rites with court music are still performed each year, a tradition recognised by UNESCO as part of the world's intangible heritage.
Best time to go: Join a guided tour and walk slowly along the great hall to appreciate its austere length.
