About

Bukchon was home to aristocrats and officials during the Joseon era, and many of its hanok houses were rebuilt in the early twentieth century. Its narrow alleys, with views across tiled rooftops to the modern city, now hold homes, craft workshops, guesthouses and small museums.

Best time to go: Walk the hilly lanes in the morning, keep your voice low and respect the residents' privacy.
