About
Completed in 1947 for the state bank of São Paulo, the tower was for years one of the tallest buildings in the city and its outline echoes New York's Empire State Building. Now a cultural centre known as Farol Santander, it has exhibitions on its lower floors and a viewing deck near the top.
Best time to go: Head up in clear weather in the late afternoon to watch the sprawling skyline stretch towards the horizon.
