About
Founded in 1903 by the engineer Oskar von Miller, the Deutsches Museum fills a huge building on the Museumsinsel. Its displays range from historic aircraft and ships to a recreated mine, musical instruments and scientific instruments, with many working models and demonstrations that make it rewarding for all ages.
Best time to go: Pick a few sections in advance; the aviation, mining and maritime halls reward a long visit.
