About
Built by Leo von Klenze and opened in 1836, the Alte Pinakothek displays the art collected by the Wittelsbachs over centuries. It holds major works by Dürer, including his self-portrait in a fur-trimmed coat and the Four Apostles, a superb room of Rubens paintings and pieces by Leonardo, Raphael, Titian and Rembrandt.
Best time to go: Go on a quiet weekday morning and begin with the Dürer and Rubens rooms before they fill up.
