About
The Stadthuys was built by the Dutch in 1650 as the office of the governor and deputy governor. Its red walls, and the red clock tower beside it, give the surrounding Red Square its name. Under the British it served as the treasury, post office and government offices. It is one of the most recognisable buildings in Malacca and the natural starting point for the historic centre.
Best time to go: Arrive early in the morning to see Red Square before the trishaws and tour groups gather.
