About
The Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum occupies a large townhouse built in 1896 on Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, long known as Millionaire's Row. It was opened in 1986 by Chan Kim Lay, the fourth generation of his family to live in the house. The museum shows the history and culture of Malacca's Peranakan, or Baba-Nyonya, community. It is known for its elaborate woodwork, furniture and porcelain.
Best time to go: Book a guided tour if you can; the house is best understood with someone explaining the rooms.
