About

The Maritime Museum opened on 13 June 1994 and tells the story of Malacca's maritime history. Its centrepiece is a replica of the Portuguese ship Flor de la Mar, 36 metres long, which houses exhibits and documents. A second section in the old Guthrie building opened in 1998. The displays show how control of Malacca underpinned maritime power in the region during the city's golden era.

Best time to go: Go in the late afternoon, then walk along the Malacca River as the evening lights come on.
