About
Ali al-Hujwiri came to Lahore from Ghazni in the eleventh century, and his tomb has drawn devotees ever since. The shrine that grew around it is the largest Sufi shrine in South Asia and is regarded as the most sacred place in the city. Its annual urs festival attracts up to a million visitors, and even on ordinary days the courtyards are rarely quiet.
Best time to go: Dress modestly, remove your shoes at the entrance and expect crowds; visitors are welcome outside prayer times.
