About
Built in the late 19th century, this long arcaded building first housed the British colonial government and was known simply as the Government Offices. It was renamed in 1974 after Sultan Abdul Samad, who ruled Selangor when construction began. For decades it held the country's superior courts, including the Federal Court and the Court of Appeal. Its domes and clock tower are among the most photographed sights in the old centre.
Best time to go: Photograph it from Merdeka Square across the road, ideally at dusk when the facade is floodlit.
