About
Petaling Street is the centre of Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur, a crowded run of stalls and shophouses. Haggling is part of the experience, and the traders include Chinese, Indian, Malay and Bangladeshi sellers. Dozens of restaurants and stalls serve local favourites such as Hokkien mee, grilled fish, asam laksa and curry noodles. The street draws locals as much as visitors, and it is busiest after dark.
Best time to go: Come in the evening for the food stalls, and haggle calmly over prices for anything you buy.
