About
Built for the wealthy merchant John Rothe between 1594 and 1610, the house is a sequence of three buildings around cobbled courtyards. It now tells the story of the family and the town, and the rear garden has been replanted with the herbs, fruit and vegetables of the period.
Best time to go: Leave time for the restored garden and orchard at the back.
