Built in the late eighteenth century as the dower house of Kilkenny Castle, the house faces the castle across the Parade. Its restored walled garden, laid out in a formal pattern, is a quiet place to pause, and the former castle stables nearby now house shops and studios selling Irish design and crafts.
Best time to go: Walk through the walled garden on your way between the castle and the craft shops opposite.
