About
Opened in the late 1950s in a modernist building by Alejandro Zohn, the Mercado Libertad, as it is officially called, spreads over three floors near the Hospicio Cabañas. Stalls sell everything from sweets and spices to boots and guitars, and the upper level is lined with counters serving Jalisco specialities.
Best time to go: Head upstairs to the food stalls for birria or tortas ahogadas, then browse the leather and crafts below.
