About
Begun in the mid-sixteenth century, the cathedral mixes several architectural styles, and its distinctive neo-Gothic spires were added after an earthquake toppled the originals in the nineteenth century. It sits at the heart of the historic centre, surrounded by plazas that together form a cross.
Best time to go: Walk around it to see how it is framed by four plazas in the shape of a cross.
