About

Built over several centuries on the site of an earlier church, St Bavo's combines a Romanesque crypt with a lofty Gothic nave and a Baroque marble pulpit. Its treasure is the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, completed by Jan van Eyck in 1432, one of the founding works of European oil painting. Rubens's painting of Saint Bavo also hangs here.
