About
Founded by Elizabeth I in 1592, Trinity occupies a walled campus of Georgian squares in the centre of the city. The Book of Kells, a lavishly illuminated manuscript of the Gospels made around 800, is displayed here, and the barrel-vaulted Long Room of the Old Library is one of the finest library halls anywhere.
Best time to go: Book a timed entry for the Book of Kells early in the day, then stroll the cobbled squares.
