About
Cologne's council has met on this site for centuries, and the complex combines a fifteenth-century Gothic tower with a Renaissance loggia from the 1570s. The tower is adorned with over a hundred statues of figures from the city's history. Excavations beside it reveal the remains of the Roman governor's palace and the medieval Jewish quarter.
Best time to go: Look up at the statues on the Gothic tower and the Renaissance loggia facing the square.
