About
The Burg takes its name from the fortress built here by the counts of Flanders. Its star is the late fourteenth-century town hall, one of the oldest in the Low Countries, whose Gothic Hall has a vaulted wooden ceiling. Around it stand the old Civil Registry, the Liberty of Bruges palace and the Basilica of the Holy Blood.
Best time to go: Walk here from the Markt and look up at the town hall's facade in the soft light of late afternoon.
