About
Designed by Arif Hikmet Koyunoğlu and completed in the late 1920s, the building is a fine example of the national architectural style of the young Republic. Its collections of costumes, textiles, woodwork and ceramics trace everyday life across Anatolia, and from 1938 until 1953 it housed Atatürk's coffin while Anıtkabir was being built.
Best time to go: Pause at the marble hall where Atatürk's coffin lay before moving on to the folk costume galleries.
