About
Completed in 1953 on a hill overlooking the capital, the mausoleum combines modern and ancient Anatolian forms. Visitors approach along the Road of Lions to a vast ceremonial square, and a museum below tells the story of the War of Independence and Atatürk's life.
Best time to go: Visit in the morning, and watch the changing of the guard at the mausoleum.
