About
Founded in 853 by King Louis the German as a convent for aristocratic women, the Fraumünster was for centuries one of the most powerful institutions in Zurich. Its slender green spire marks the left bank, and inside the five choir windows designed by Marc Chagall glow in deep blues, reds and greens.
Best time to go: Visit on a sunny morning when light pours through the Chagall windows in the choir.
