About
Founded in 1931, the gallery moved in 1983 into the old provincial courthouse, remodelled by Arthur Erickson. It holds an important collection of works by Emily Carr, who painted the forests and villages of British Columbia. The steps outside are a popular city meeting place.
Best time to go: Check which exhibitions are on, and look for the paintings of Emily Carr in the permanent collection.
