About
After the great fire of 1917 the French architect Ernest Hébrard replanned the city centre, and this broad square was the centrepiece of his design. Framed by arcaded buildings in a Byzantine-inspired style, it is where Thessalonians gather for celebrations, concerts and the evening volta along the sea.
Best time to go: Walk down from Egnatia Street towards the sea for the grand view opening onto the water.
