About
The museum traces life in Macedonia from prehistory to Roman times. Its standouts include lavish gold wreaths and jewellery from royal and aristocratic tombs, and the Derveni krater, an intricately worked bronze vessel decorated with Dionysus and his followers, alongside mosaics and sculpture from the city itself.
Best time to go: Allow a couple of hours and linger over the gold of Macedon and the Derveni krater.
