About
Founded in 1877, the museum's main building holds displays on the history of the city and region, together with a natural history collection of birds and animals. It also runs several branches around the city, including the Norwegian Canning Museum in a restored sardine factory and the elegant manor houses of Ledaal and Breidablikk. Together they give a rounded picture of Stavanger's past.
Best time to go: Buy a combined ticket, as it also covers the canning museum in Old Stavanger and the historic manor houses.
