About
The Pinacoteca brings together the great tradition of Sienese painting in the Palazzo Buonsignori and a neighbouring palace. Its rooms move from the gilded altarpieces of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, including works by Duccio and the Lorenzetti brothers, to the sixteenth-century art of Beccafumi and Sodoma. It is the place to understand what made Siena's painters distinct.
Best time to go: Visit in the afternoon, when it is quieter, and follow the rooms in order to see the school evolve.
