About

Built by Yaqub al-Mansur at the end of the twelfth century, Bab er-Rouah is the grandest gate in Rabat's Almohad ramparts. Its horseshoe arch is framed by bands of carved stone and inscriptions, and the passage inside turns several times, a defensive design. The chambers within are now used as an exhibition space.

Best time to go: Walk along the Almohad walls to reach it, and look inside if an exhibition is on.
