About
Designed as a church in the 18th century, the Panthéon became a secular temple to national heroes. Foucault's pendulum swings under the dome, and in the crypt lie Victor Hugo, Émile Zola and Marie Curie.
Best time to go: Weekday mornings; the dome colonnade opens in the warmer months.
